Trekking among the old-growth beech forests of the Park of Abruzzo ... nominated as a World Heritage Site
The 60% of the Park of Abruzzo territory is composed of forests, of which 90% are beech forests. The Abruzzo National Park preserves the beech woods the oldest in Europe, earning the nomination for UNESCO World Heritage listing. Intact ecosystems and biodiversity-rich primordial, where towering patriarchs in excess of 500 years old. These forests are real treasure chests that in them preserve rare or endemic species: the white back woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos), the Brown Bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus), or beetles like the Rosalia Alpina (Rosalia alpina). A challenging trek that will allow us to explore the wild heart of the Abruzzo National Park and enjoy the hospitality of the mountain hut.

First day: difference in altitude almost 750 m up and 300 down. Km almost 10
Second day: difference in altitude almost 400 m up and 900 down. Km almost 10
Hiking shoes, light raincoat or poncho, sun hat, water bottle, backpack, long pants, hat and wool gloves, jacket, t-shirt parts, flashlight, batteries, binoculars, camera or camera, sun protection cream, sheet sleaping bag.

At "Eco Refuge Cicerana". It is equipped with 10 to 15 beds in one dormitory with shared bathroom. It 'also provided water, electricity and heating (gas + wood). The Ecorifugio also makes use of a large room where you can dine and enjoy the characteristic atmosphere of the shelter itself.
The cost includes
Half board in dormitory (breakfast and dinner in a lodge, packed lunch the next day can be booked at an additional cost of € 10), assistance of Nature guide, sleeping bags overnight stay (it is recommended to obtain the personal sheet sleeping bag that can alternatively be purchased at the refuge at the cost of € 10).

First day: Meet your guide at Villavallelonga. Short transfer by car to the entrance of the path. Hike in beech forest venerable Val Cervara, the oldest part of beech found in Italy. Packed Lunches at the Sorgnte Puzza. Start of descent through the Vallone Lampazzo that will lead us to the all'Ecorifugio Cicerana. Accommodation in hut for dinner and overnight.
Second day: breakfast and to follow hike to Monte Marcolano, touching another nucleus of the venerable beech forest Selva Moricento, with specimens of beech trees in excess of 500 years old. Packed sack and to follow descent along Valle Forte which brings us back to cars with a perfect lap ring.
