JORIO'S REFUGE

Placed at 1835 m on sea level, the refuge is called “Tre Confini”, because it is the natural border between three different valleys: Valle Carbonara, Valico dell’Aceretta and Vallone Pesco di Jorio. Jorio’s refuge is one of the best place to enjoy landscape of the Abruzzo National Park. From the top is possible to see all the Park: on north side Monte Serrone, I Prati d’Angro, the dry Fucino’s Lake, Monte Schienacavallo; on east side: Serra del Carapale and Monte Marsicano; on south side there are the other villages ( Opi, Villetta Barrea and Barrea) in the Park, until the rocky mountains of Camosciara; on the west Creste la Rocca divides Abruzzo from Lazio.

Thanks to its own special position on Macchia della Rocca, habitat of many animals such as: bears, wolves, red-deer, roe-deer, wild-boar and so on, Jorio’s refuge is the best place to observe wild animals. This special position, far from villages and light pollution, permit us to enjoy the sky and the stars in the night.

Jorio’s refuge has 12 beds and is equipped of sun energy. It is possible to organize trekking to the Jorio’s refuge out of our calendar, for a minimum of 6-7 people. For booking or more information: Ecotur…
