JORIO'S REFUGE |
|
Placed
at 1835 m on sea level, the refuge is called “Tre Confini”, because
it is the natural border between three different valleys: Valle
Carbonara, Valico dell’Aceretta and Vallone Pesco di Jorio. Jorio’s
refuge is one of the best place to enjoy landscape of the Abruzzo
National Park. From the top is possible to see all the Park: on
north side Monte Serrone, I Prati d’Angro, the dry Fucino’s Lake,
Monte Schienacavallo; on east side: Serra del Carapale and Monte
Marsicano; on south side there are the other villages ( Opi,
Villetta Barrea and Barrea) in the Park, until the rocky mountains
of Camosciara; on the west Creste la Rocca divides Abruzzo from
Lazio. |
|
Thanks
to its own special position on Macchia della Rocca, habitat of many
animals such as: bears, wolves, red-deer, roe-deer, wild-boar and so
on, Jorio’s refuge is the best place to observe wild animals. This
special position, far from villages and light pollution, permit us
to enjoy the sky and the stars in the night. |
