After “Via Francigena” and “Cammino di Santiago”, the rediscovery of “Tratturi”, the old grass way from the mountains of Abruzzo to Tavoliere delle Puglie, is a particular experience. Crossing the same ways used by Sanniti and Romans, but, first of all, by millions of sheep and thousand of shepherds since 1200 a.C., walking for hours not hearing any noise, imagining those grassland covered by millions of sheep, caravans of mules loaded of furniture and fittings, it is like a travel in the past, through the traditions, the culture and religion of Abruzzo people. Starting from the heart of the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park, we will cross Molise region, going down until the sea level, in the big lowland called “Tavoliere delle Puglie”, where shepherds spent the winter time, waiting to come back to the dear Abruzzo mountains. |

| PROGRAM |
| 1st day: Arrival to Pescasseroli in the afternoon. 18.00 meeting with the guide, showing of the program, dinner and overnight stay. 2nd day Pescasseroli-Opi-Civitella Alfedena-Villetta Barrea We will start at 8.30 and we will take the bus for Camosciara, because of Tratturo has been covered by the main road in this part of Abruzzo. At Camosciara We will visit Tre Cannelle and Ninfe waterfalls and walking on Tratturo We will arrive to Civitella Alfedena and We will visit the Sanctuary of wolves. 3rd day Villetta Barrea- Alfedena- Villa Scontrone Coasting Barrea Lake, crossed by Tratturo in the past, We will arrive to the village, walking near the old ruins of the Benedictine Monastery. After visited Barrea We will go on until Alfedena, finishing our excursion in villa Scontrone. 4th day Villa Scontrone-Rocca Sicura In this day We will enter to Molise, the second of the three regions We will visit. From here, Tratturo is evident and well marked, specially near the Montalto village. 5th day Roccasicura-Civitanova del Sannio This part of Tratturo is enough flat until the wood of Selva Bella, where we will come down until Pescolanciano and Civitanova del Sannio. 6th day Civitanova del Sannio-Castropignano We will start for Duronia, built on the top of a hill, and after We will come down to cross a river in the valley. Coasting a pine wood We will arrive to Torella del Sannio. Lunch and starting to Castropignano. 7th day Castropignano-Ripalimosani-Guardiaregia From Castropignano We will go down until the main road for the village of Santo Stefano. From here, We will go on until Ripalimosani. 8th day Guardiaregia-Sepino Walking at the bottom of the big mountain called “Matese”, we will rich the ancient roman town Sepino.
