A weekend discovering wolves with a night in a hut
A special way and completely different than usual to spend the weekend, totally immersed in nature in the Abruzzo National Park, to discover the wolf. Excursions in search of the most significant traces of the predators, the Apennine Wolf, that in the Park has found the perfect place to live and reproduce. One predator extraordinary that fortunately has returned to repopulate the mountain areas in Italy. We will know the wolves, we will study the life and habits. The overnight stay at the comfortable Ecorifugio of Cicerana, placed in one of the most remote and wild areas of the park, will allow us to experience in close contact with nature and will serve as an ideal starting point for our excursions.

Program
First day
arrival at PESCASSEROLI at 10.30 am, meeting with the guide at the Ecotur office. Excursion to know the habitat, the prey and the signs of the presence of the wolf. Possibility of wildlife observation. Packed lunch at the expense of the participants. Arrival at the refuge expected in the afternoon. 18.00 short evening excursion "on the trail of the wolf". Dinner based on local products and reading stories of "men and wolves". Overnight.
Second day
7.00 am attempt to observe wildlife in the area of Cicerana. 08.00 am breakfast and following excursion in the area of Cicerana between woods and large clearings to get to know and investigate the age-old man-wolf relationship / conflict. We will follow the paths of the wolves, we will visit their territory. Lunch based on polenta in a refuge. Return scheduled for 16.00 and departure for the places of origin.

Equipment
Walking shoes, waterproof jacket (preferably Gore-tex), gloves and fleece or wool hat, backpack, water bottle, pants far, binoculars, head light, sheet sleaping bag. During the stalking it can be cold, so it is recommended to dress in layers.

Highway 24, Rome, Pescara branch to exit Pescina, continue to Pescasseroli. Sleeping bags overnight stay (it is recommended to obtain the personal sheet sleeping bag that can alternatively be purchased at the refuge at the cost of € 15).Support of Nature guide and oganization.
