The Magnificent 7

- Day One
Arrival in PESCASSEROLI at 3:30 PM, meeting at the Ecotur office. Transfer to Passo del Diavolo and start the walking trail that leads to the Cicerana Eco-Refuge. Check in to a dormitory and in the late afternoon, make your first attempt at wildlife observation, especially bears, at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at the refuge.

- Day Two: Wake up at sunrise and attempt to observe wild animals. Breakfast followed by a hike through the ancient beech forests, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an ideal habitat for numerous animal species, especially bears. Recognize tracks and signs of their presence. Packed lunch. Return to the cars in the early afternoon. Transfer to San Sebastiano at the Hotel Gemma. Check in and rest. Late afternoon, make another attempt at wildlife observation. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

- Day Three
Wake up at sunrise and attempt to observe wild animals, especially wolves, red-deer, and roe deer. Breakfast. Followed by a car transfer and hike to admire the Apennine chamois and golden eagle. Packed lunch provided by participants. Return to the hotel scheduled for the afternoon. A short rest followed by another attempt at observing the animals at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Fourth day: Wake up at dawn and attempt to observe wild animals, especially bears. Breakfast. Followed by a hike on the trail of the Marsican brown bear to learn about its habitat, tracks, and signs of its presence. Packed lunch. Return to the hotel in the early afternoon. Return to the hotel scheduled for the afternoon. A short rest followed by another attempt at observing the animals at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Fifth day: Breakfast at 8:00 a.m., followed by a private car transfer to Petrella Liri to admire a rock face where griffin vultures nest. Packed lunch. Farewell and departure for your hometown.

Waking up at dawn is not mandatory; if you're tired, you can join the group for breakfast. However, it's highly recommended to participate at these times, as they offer the best wildlife viewing opportunities.

The program may be modified due to adverse weather conditions or at the guide's discretion to provide participants with the best wildlife viewing opportunities.

First night at Ecorifugio della Cicerana and next 3 nights at Hotel Gemma*** at San Sebastiano nei Marsi.

Hiking boots, jacket (possibly gore-tex), backpack, wind jacket or poncho, water bottle, hat, flashlight, hat for the sun, sunglasses, sun protection cream, long pants and "swetcher ", camera, binoculars. For the night at Ecorifugio we recommend: sheet sleaping bag and towels. Dress in layers especially during bearwatching.
