The ancient Transhumance

Lovely walk to know the ancient Transhumance of Abruzzo shepherds.

After the Via Francigena and the Camino de Santiago, the rediscovery of the "Tratturi" the long grass roads that connected the mountainous Abruzzo with the Tavoliere di Puglia is a particular experience. We will retrace the same routes used by the Samnites, by the Romans, but above all from 1400 onwards by hundreds of shepherds and millions of sheep. We will walk for hours and not hear a sound, we will imagine those wide expanses of grass covered by thousands of sheep and caravans of mules loaded with household goods and we will take a journey into the past, into the traditions, culture and religiosity of the people of Abruzzo who they have always linked their lives to transhumant sheep farming.
