The way of the brigants
An itinerary to discover brigandage before and after unification of Italy
Historical and nature trail to retrace the history of brigandage in southern Italy. We will walk along the border that marked the division between the Kingdom of Naples and the Papal States. A day dedicated to the discovery of this phenomenon which is no longer considered mere larceny, steeped in criminal acts, but a revolutionary movement deployed by the fringes of poor people who had no other way but to take to the bush and take the road of brigandage . After a short drive on a comfortable dirt road, it begins the climb that will take us through the beech forest in the large prairie Campo Rotondo and later Campo Lungo and Macchiarvana, to go down to the village in the early afternoon.
At "Eco Refuge Cicerana". It is equipped with 10 beds in one dormitory with shared bathroom. It 'also provided water, electricity and heating (gas + wood).
Hiking boots, jacket (possibly gore-tex), backpack, wind jacket or poncho, water bottle, hat and wool gloves, flashlight, hat for the sun, sunglasses, sun protection cream, long pants and "swetcher ", camera, binoculars. Dress in layers especially during bearwatching. The hut is equipped with sleeping bags, then you should bring a sheet bags, which alternatively can be buy at the hut at a cost of € 10 each. For the night at the hut it is also recommended a personal towels and a pillowcase.

The cost includes
Half board treatment in dormitory (breakfast and dinner in the refuge). Packed lunch the next day can be booked at an additional cost of € 10. Assistance for the entire duration of the program of a Nature Guide, sleeping bags for the overnight stay (it is recommended to get a personal sleeping bag that can be bought at the shelter for € 10 as an alternative).
