Hike in Cicerana and into the ancient forest of Selva Moricento with chance of lunch at a mountain hut .
The 60% of the Park of Abruzzo territory is composed of forests, of which 90% are beech forests. The Abruzzo National Park preserves the beech woods the oldest in Europe, earning the nomination for UNESCO World Heritage listing. Intact ecosystems and biodiversity-rich primordial, where towering patriarchs in excess of 500 years old. These forests are real treasure chests that in them preserve rare or endemic species: the white back woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos), the Brown Bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus), or beetles like the Rosalia Alpina (Rosalia alpina). A challenging trek that will allow us to explore the wild heart of the Abruzzo National Park and enjoy the hospitality of the mountain hut.
Program
After a short drive by own car, of which the last part is a comfortable dirt road, you start walking. The return is scheduled at 4.00 p.m.
Equipment
Hiking boots or sneakers with sole carved, water-bottle, backpack, sunglasses and sunscreen, long pants, hat for the sun, wind jacket, fleece or sweatshirt.
